THE BEST QUALITY IN HEALTHY MEALS

The lunch program at Walden is focused on providing flavorful food options that cater to a broad range of palates and dietary needs. We believe school lunches don't have to be bland to appeal to picky eaters; vigorous, maturing minds need exciting meal options that ultimately promote a conscientious attention to health and appreciation of multicultural taste. In choosing ingredients, quality is our first priority and that's why every product is carefully selected by our professional in-house chef to craft meals that include the essential nourishment every growing child needs.

Meet the Chef

Gabe Sowder began his culinary career 20 years ago as a prep cook and has worked his way through every position in the professional kitchen. He settled in Louisville in 1999 and worked as a line cook at Jack Fry’s for two years. A stint running the kitchen at Wild Oats ignited a passion for healthy eating. However, it was the appeal of fine dining that attracted him to 610 Magnolia where he was chef de cuisine for six years. His most recent venture was the restaurant Taco Punk. Gabe is married to artist Dana Andriot and is the father of 11 year old Ezra.
